The color is brilliant and clear; ruby with slight russet hues. There are clean, intense aromas on the nose with prevailing notes of red fruit intermingled with tobacco, truffle and vanilla. The palate shows a supple, smooth texture with a long finish.

Valbuena, is the purest expression of the Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) in Vega Sicilia. Tinto Fino is clearly the predominant wine in the assemblage of the varieties that make up this magnificent wine. The other variety used is Merlot, which is added to a greater or lesser extent depending on the vintage.
It is the Vega Sicilia flagship. The qualities of the Tempranillo and cabernet sauvignon in different proportions are assembled to perfection in this wine. Each provides a differentiating factor that makes the wine great in every vintage.
As is the case of all TEMPOS Vega Sicilia wines, the harvest is by hand with the fruit being placed in 12-kg boxes and grapes, once in the winery, they are left in a cold chamber for 12 hours in order to preserve their fruit intensity.

Avaniel is a red young wine elaborated with grapes we obtain from one or our freshest plors called “Los Miles”. It is also one of the youngest vineyard with vines within 6 and 10 years. These conditions makes Avaniel to be a very fresh wine tasty fruity notes.
Marqués de Riscal Reserva wines are basically made from grapes from Tempranillo vines planted before 1970's, grown in the best clay-limestone soils of the Rioja Alavesa.
Dimitri Tchelistcheff, our long-time consultant, had a special feeling for Tempranillo and suggested planting one acre, making this a very limited production wine. The name Tempranillo comes form the Spanish, "temprano" which means "early", and Tempranillo true to its name is always our first red grape to ripen.
A fast, warm ferment captures all of the beautiful fruit, fragrance, and texture that Tempranillo has to offer. After fermentation at 28°C, the wine is aged for 10 months in American oak barrels. The wine spends an additional 6 months in the bottle before being released.
Grapes are de-stemmed and undergo fermentation at 86°F. The grapes then goes through a 27-day maceration period with light pumping over, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wines age for 28 months in oak.
