The 2016 Hourglass Estate Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of three contrasting vineyards and clones. The Larkmead Lane vineyard is on the same mineral rich alluvial gravel beds as our Blueline Estate, just down the street. As such, this site elicit a vibrancy and stony minerality akin to that expressed in our Blueline Estate reds.
Aromatically akin to the perfumed 2012 vintage, our 2014 Hourglass is less brooding than the 2013, with more of its traditional dark red pomegranate and currant characteristics weaving together with savory cassis and black currant.
Merlot from the Blueline Estate continues to amaze us! The ashen soils of the upper bench of the estate where the Merlot is planted, are not typical of Merlot vineyards.
Opulence and richness are the hallmarks of 2015 vintage, and the Blueline Cabernet Sauvignon demonstrates this in spades. The aromatics are a mingling of dense fruit scents, with cassis and blackberry bramble, a hint of barrel toast and crushed graphite that echo on the palate.
The 2015 HG III follows the characteristics of the vintage with its rich opulence. Approachable at the pull of the cork, explosive aromas of black cherry, blackberries and Hoisin mingle with elevated notes of roasted hazelnut and cedar for a seductive perfume.
